@Jesus is on Twitter - what are you going to do if he decides to un-follow you?

God is on Facebook, but it's Buddha that's reading your Wall.

I've stumbled on hidden truth on my path toward social media enlightenment.

During this presentation I will share everything I've learned from Facebook about the universal concepts of suffering, forgiveness, understanding and fate.

I wrote a song about a desperate time in my life. I was in a town that seemed to have no opportunity. I was unemployed and my social life was a spiraling mess. I blamed it all on the town of Bend, Oregon.

I packed everything I could into my compact car and drove, searching for a new beginning. I drove to Arizona to stay with family and discovered that it wasn't the town it was me. I returned to Bend and have been enjoying the new beginning ever since.

I would like to perform the song acoustically with images that represent my situation at the time.

But I hope you will never need to use these tips...

Poker is like life. I look back on my life’s decisions, moments, experiences and say, hmmm so that’s how I got here…and then, every time I sit at a poker tourney I see my life reenacted.

You’re born with a certain amount of momentum. It’s like the chips you sit down with at the table. There are some with more, and some with less. But it’s your life at the table, you’re in charge, make the most of it. Follow the rules, try to win, try to dominate actually, have fun, and never, ever, cheat.

And so on...

Copyright in the digital age is a murky, unentertaining topic at best. Media magnates wail that their profits are in peril because of teenage pirates. The teen pirates seem not to hear. Or, perhaps, care. And many of those teens (and adults, to be fair) aren't really even pirates. They're remixers. Artists. They're kind of like knitters working with skeins of beautifully handcrafted wool yarn, creating original pieces of art.

Learn about changes afoot in the world of copyright and fair use, the generation of remixers, and how they will all impact our daily media interaction. And I'll try to make it entertaining.

At First Presbyterian Church, we are a vibrant, diverse, passionate, compassionate community of Christ, joyfully dancing to the rhythms of divine grace. Led by the Holy Spirit, guided by scripture and empowered with the Gospel, we welcome all people, especially young adults and families, to walk the journey of faith.

In our society, in our media Christianity is purported to believe certain things. Sometimes those things go against what we at First Presbyterian believe. In our five minutes using the Bible and its interpretation, we hope to be able to present a position that breaks down what people see in the media and what is practiced not only in our particular ministry setting but by a great multitude of people of faith. Our hope is not to degrade the beliefs of others, but to offer another perspective on being people of faith.

We intend to use examples of faith from the Bible, internet, i.e. twitter, blogs, facebook, websites, etc. as well as invite others to coffee house/pub style conversations in order to understand not only what we can provide for the community of Bend, OR, but also what the community can teach us and what God is saying to us all.
